HISTORY

The crape myrtle is a beautiful, flowering tree that blooms in the oppressive heat of the Southern summer. In the same spirit and name, Crape Myrtle Festival began 30 years ago as a small backyard party in the summer of 1981. Since then, it has grown into an annual series of special fundraising and educational events, culminating each July with a “Grand Gala” that is typically attended by hundreds of people in support of local nonprofit organizations.
